A Comprehensive Test Drive of the Chrysler 200 S Sedan
At first sight of the Chrysler 200, it looks like a compact car that is focused on gas mileage. What will give the 200 the initial impression of the "compact car" is the size. But of course you will see the 200 at the dealership, and nine times out of ten times, it will be sitting next to the older brother, the Chrysler 300. Then I thought to myself,
"what is Chrysler doing trying to make just a fuel-efficient car?"
But just as I thought I was climbing into a compact small fuel-efficient car, I sat inside and you will quickly realize that you were completely wrong. As I sat inside, my immediate attention went straight toward luxurious features the 200 has to offer. The interior has a very clean organized layout, with a traditional hand clock to give it that "luxury" exclamation point that you expect from a Chrysler.
As I adjusted the seat, the radio, and the mirrors, I found that the buttons are just where they should be. I fine-tuned everything exactly I wanted, I melted into the seat and thought to myself,
"this is the luxury feel that I want and have been looking for."
After getting everything just right, I started the engine and the dials jumped up. I put my foot on the brake, put the car in drive, released the brake and pulled onto the road. Upon making the turn onto the road, I pushed the gas pedal down and found myself grinning from ear to ear. It was from of the 3.6L V-6 cylinder engine under the hood which produced 260 lbs. of torque. The gas pedal felt as if it had no end. As soon as I new it, I was five over the speed limit and felt as if I didn't even brake 20 mph. A mile and a half later I turned right onto a "curvy on-ramp and accelerated the car hard in the corners.
"It hugged the turns and had no problems entering and exiting the corners."
My hands tightly gripped the leather bound steering wheel as I merged onto the expressway. The interior the car felt as smooth as if it were still in park, and externally looked (and really was) going 70 mph. I loved every second of it and didn't want to stop!
Returning to Paul Sherry Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Piqua, Ohio, I had such a difficult time putting the Chrysler 200 into a category to compare to other sedans. Is it a compact car? Is it luxury car? Does is fall in a sports car category with its on the road performance?
The truth is, it fits in all of the categories. What makes this car great and unique in nature is the blend of traits it has. The car looks and is fuel-efficient, luxurious, and sporty.
There is nothing else like it. My advice to anyone interested, drive one yourself and you will know exactly what I am talking about.
